On the road — Division of Blair

I have continued on through the Division of Blair as I heads back to Brisbane. What has happened to Blair’s Koalas? There used to be strong populations here, but logging, urbanisation and dogs have all had a toll. In the Peak Crossing area, logging has impacted on habitat critical to the survival of the Koala, as defined by the Federal Government, but the Department of the Environment refused to intervene, citing the EPBC Act exemption for areas managed by Regional Forestry Agreements. The catch – the relevant South East Queensland Regional Forestry Agreement was never signed. By declining to intervene, the Federal Environment Department has given a green light to all private forestry in SEQ… A Koala Protection Act is needed, urgently. https://www.savethekoala.com/sites/default/files/Imagine2016Forestry.pdf
